Mobility vans not only like diesel, but also vegan food. Our red vehicle certainly didn’t spit out the wholemeal spelt rolls, tofu sprout fit and seitan onion burgers. Neither does the small but mighty vegan kitchen team. And so we drove to Winterthur. The first Veganmania in Switzerland took place there on Saturday, September 22. About time. The event has been delighting the Austrian population since 1997.
When we arrived at Neumarkt in Winterthur, the first raindrops were falling, so we didn’t set up the stand and tent very comfortably. Shortly after 10 o’clock it was sizzling and frying. The first homemade vegan burger with colorful fries (a mix between Hördöpfel and Rüeblis) was sold and it was not to be the last. According to unconfirmed eyewitness reports, the queue was longer than at the McDonalds nearby.
Sigi, Anita and I worked as if we were in a small vegan kitchen factory on the assembly line. Fortunately, Marcel took over the cash register and took orders. At this point, a big thank you to my three vegan kitchen helpers: Sigi, Anita and Marcel, you are the best!
We were already sold out by 3 p.m.: 250 vegan burgers with sunflower remoulade, soy cream cheese, organic ketchup, onions, gherkins and tomatoes found their way into the bellies. We could probably have sold 750 vegan burgers. However, I calculated carefully when shopping because I recently watched “Taste the Waste”. Our Schoggimaronni bundt cake lasted almost until the end
The mood among the Veganmania exhibitors was good. I think the many visitors liked it too. Despite the chilly wet weather, a number of vegan organic glacés from “The Green Fairy” were served(interview). There must be something about vegan food…
Kind regards
Lauren

Sigi and Anita. Two out of three love vegan kitchen helpers. Thank you!
Photo evidence that it was raining and the vegan burgers were actually eaten;-)
“Next, please.”
